Reef Cleanup Rush

Eco Diving & Volunteer Reef Tours

Our Story & Mission

Grassroots reef protection turned organized movement

The initiative began when divers and coastal residents realized how often their favorite sites were littered with discarded nets, plastic fragments, and metallic debris. Informal cleanup sessions soon evolved into structured, recurring dives that followed clear protocols and documented every recovered item. As more volunteers joined, the team developed standardized briefings, safety procedures, and partnerships with marine scientists to ensure efforts would support long‑term conservation rather than just one‑off actions.

Today, participants join multi‑day experiences where underwater descents are combined with shoreline sorting, ecosystem education, and discussions about sustainable coastal economies. Certified divers focus on retrieving debris from reef ledges, harbor walls, and sandy seabeds, while non‑divers support on land with logistics and data entry. By transforming individual concern into coordinated programs, the project gives people a practical way to contribute to healthier marine environments.

Volunteers learning about reef ecology
Across Greece, citizen‑driven marine protection initiatives have expanded from small weekend cleanups into large‑scale movements that mix reef defense, education, and data‑driven advocacy. [web:11]
